Core Concepts
Organization
Your laboratory entity. All patients, requests, and billing are scoped to an organization. Each org has its own locations, users, and settings.
Patient
A registered individual with personal info, medical aid details, and a system-generated account number (e.g. MAN1SG5).
Lab Request
An order for one or more tests on a patient. Tracks status from received → in_progress → completed. Contains referring doctor, ICD-10 code, and payment info.
Test Item
An individual test within a request, identified by a GEMS tariff code (e.g. 3755 for Full Blood Count). Each test tracks its own payment status.
